Latest MEA Training Package Updates in Australia

20 June 2023 MEA Training Update: Extended Transition Period for MEA Qualifications

For the June 20 MEA training package updates, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has recently approved an extended transition period for several Aeroskills training package (MEA). This decision allows for longer training, assessment, and certification issuance period to ensure a smooth transition for learners. The extended period applies to the following qualifications:

  • MEA30318 Certificate III in Aircraft Life Support and Furnishing
  • MEA40918 Certificate IV in Aircraft Surface Finishing
  • MEA41318 Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Structures)

The extended transition period for these training packages in Australia will conclude on 21 November 2024. This arrangement applies to all providers who have students enrolled in these qualifications as of 20 November 2023.

ASQA considers applications for extended transition periods when it is shown that learners would face genuine disadvantages without such an extension. This decision was made in consultation with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) and the Training Accreditation Council Western Australia (TAC WA).

During the extended transition period, the qualifications will remain on the provider’s scope of registration, ensuring the continued delivery of quality training.

This initiative aims to facilitate a seamless transition for learners and maintain the standard of education within the aviation maintenance sector.
