AMP Training Package Updates

2 October 2023 AMP Training Package Update

In a recent development, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has approved an extended transition period for specific AMP qualifications, signifying a crucial change that impacts both your organisation and students. The Australian meat processing (AMP) training package update is of particular relevance to the following qualifications:

  • AMP30316 – Certificate III in Meat Processing (Meat Safety)
  • AMP30616 – Certificate III in Meat Processing (General)
  • AMP30716 – Certificate III in Meat Processing (Quality Assurance)
  • AMP40415 – Certificate IV in Meat Processing (Quality Assurance)
  • AMP40516 – Certificate IV in Meat Processing (Meat Safety)

The transition period for training, assessment, and certification issuance for these courses has been extended from 24 January 2024 to 31 January 2025.

This decision applies exclusively to students who started formal training or assessment in these courses on or before 24 January 2024. All learners in this category must complete their training or transfer to replacement qualifications by the new transition end date.

With this Australian meat processing training package update, ASQA ensures that your learners in these qualifications have adequate time to complete their training without being disadvantaged. These mentioned training products will also remain on your scope of registration until the end of the extended transition period.

ASQA engaged in consultations with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority and the Training Accreditation Council of Western Australia regarding this extended transition period. Additionally, they collaborated with Skills Insight, the jobs and skills council responsible for the AMP training package.

Major Australian Meat Processing Training Package Update 2023: Embracing Safety, Quality, and Innovation

Skills Impact has released major updates to the Australian Meat Processing (AMP) training package in Australia.

The training update has an emphasis on core skills in safety, quality assurance, and leadership has impacted Australia’s meat processing industry in successfully providing high quality products in the market.

Still, the AMP training package has undergone necessary updates to stay relevant to the current industry standards. This is especially because of technology’s major role in shaping the market demands and new trends emerging in the market like the increased demand in wild game meat products both domestically and internationally.

A Training Package Companion Volume Implementation Guide (CVIG) was also produced to supplement the AMP training package revisions and aid in the delivery of the training updates.

Changes to the AMP training package 2023

The version 8.0 of the Australian Meat Processing training package update includes 8 newly reviewed qualifications with five being merged into two and three being updated into new codes. 2 skill sets were developed and one updated, while 117 units were updated.
